Tattoo Lettering Guide | Aelida

Instead of getting a design, why not get a tattoo lettering if you cannot make up your mind? While there are hundreds of tattoo designs which you can choose from, they can be sometimes too overwhelming that you no longer know what it is that you want. For this reason, there are several people who choose getting a quote tattoo instead.

Nowadays, text tattoos becomes more and more trendy these days since more and more people choose words, names, short quotes and meaningful sayings to express themselves through their tattoos. If you have already decided what to tattoo on your body, the next important thing to consider is what kind of lettering you would like to apply on your tattoo.

Nobody would like that their tattoo looks boring and unattractive. So you should do some research and choose your tattoo font or a tattoo lettering style that will give more color and personality to your tattoo. The most popular tattoo fonts are script fonts.

Keep it short and sweet. Whether it be from a poem, a movie line, verse from the bible or lyrics from the song, choosing the short quotes seem to have the most impact.

For short quotes, the best places would be foot, wrist, back of the neck, ankle and arm. For longer lettering tats, ideal body parts would be the rib cage, shoulder blade, back and hip area.

Just remember, once you have these words tattooed on you, the journey does not end there. You need to take care of your lettering tattoo to make it readable and ever glowing all the time.

Aside from the message being tattooed on one’s body, they also have to carefully choose what font they want. There are so many fonts which they can choose and the most famous ones include Gothic, Tribal Scroll, Old English, Medieval, Arial, or even a Script Calligraphy. Aside from the fonts mentioned, there are also some people who choose script characters from other cultures like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and also even Khmer.

Script fonts usually look personal and unique, something like calligraphy and handwriting. Old English fonts are also used a lot in tattoo designs, since they have a distinguished look and evoke some medieval meanings. Other popular fonts used in tattoos include: Celtic fonts, graffiti fonts, blade fonts etc.
