Since spring is officially here, it’s safe to say that we can expect pretty warm days ahead of us real soon. And what better way to beat the heat than to go swimming, eh? Thankfully, you wouldn’t have to wait until summer to get your swimsuits on anymore because the warm weather for spring is certainly an excuse to go to the beach with your friends and get dipping! Planning on going shopping for a swimsuit soon? We all have body issues that we constantly battle and deal with and being in a bikini can sometimes make these issues very discouraging. Don’t give up yet! See our tips on how to choose a swimsuit for different body issues below to make sure you look your best at the beach or at the pool.

  • Athletic body type – if you have an athletic body type, you’re most likely to have more muscles than other body types. Broad shoulders, a flat chest and a rather straight silhouette instead of a curvy one are also characteristics that make up the athletic body type. Since this is a stronger, more masculine body type, you’ll want a swimsuit that has girly details to balance out and soften your looks. Go for swimsuits that have a girly feel like ring-top bandeaus, monokinis or even swimsuits with soft and subtle details like lace and ruffles.

  • Bottom heavy – wearing a traditional two-piece bikini may just emphasize your heavy bottom. If you want to conceal that, try wearing a tankini to elongate your upper body. You can also go for swimsuits that feature a deep V-neck to elongate your upper body and take away the attention from the bottom part. The key to dressing up a pear body, in general, is to create the illusion of a longer upper body to balance a heavy bottom.

  • Boobacious – this is a burden to some and a dream for others. Whether you love or despise the fact that your chest isn’t flat, one thing is for sure when it comes to finding the right swimsuit: you need support. Support is important for women who have big busts. Go for swimwear that feature underwire to help hold up your girls. Aside from that, you should also look for a swimsuit that offers great coverage. The last thing you want while swimming and having fun under the sun is a nip slip so say no to those teeny tiny triangle-y bikini bras and say yes to bandeaus.

  • Tummy bulge – so you’ve been working out for a really long time now but that stubborn tummy bulge just won’t seem to go away, huh? Don’t worry, it happens. While you’re still working on that, why not ditch your two-piece swimsuits and go for a one-piece swimsuit that has ruched detailing to conceal the bulge? You can also try looking for a swimsuit that features control panels to suck the bulge in and give you the look of a flatter tummy.

  • A big bum – while this can be quite an asset, not a lot of ladies who actually have a big behind want to flaunt their behinds in a swimsuit. If you want to make your bum look smaller in a swimsuit, you can of course wear swimsuits in darker colors, especially at the bottom. You can also downplay the size of your backside by wearing boyleg-type bottoms or brief-style bikinis.
