Oils of all sorts from various sources are having their moment in the beauty industry right now, from the humble coconut oil which has endless uses not just in beauty but in other aspects as well to the luxurious Argan oil which is considered a holy grail product by a lot of beauty junkies and enthusiasts and everything else in between. The biggest names and brands in the beauty industry have launched their own lines of beauty oils that have us going crazy but amidst all these, do you ever wonder if there’s any other kind of oil out there that has not been discovered or at least used in beauty yet? Just recently, I read about sesame oil being used in beauty so I researched about it. Below are the surprising beauty uses of sesame oil that I found out about and would like to share with you, pretty ladies. Check them out below!

  • Anti-aging – there are so many products out there that boast of their anti-aging features but they cost so much! If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to these products that work just as well, it’s time to grab a bottle of sesame oil on your next trip to the grocery. Sesame oil contains antioxidants that fight skin aging. It also has vitamins and emollient fatty acids which hydrate and soften the skin to keep it looking healthy and radiant.

  • Sunscreen – want to protect your skin but hate all the other chemicals that come with that bottle of sunscreen? If you want a more natural way to protect your skin from the sun, you can use olive oil as a natural sunscreen. It has low SPF, though, so I would recommend using something stronger or backing it up with the use of an umbrella if you’re going out in the sun for longer periods of time.

  • Oil pulling – oil pulling is one of the most recent health practices from the past that people have gotten into. It’s basically just like using mouthwash except that you use your oil of choice. A lot of people prefer to use coconut oil or olive oil but you can most certainly use sesame oil as well. This practice is done to draw out toxins and impurities from the body.

  • Sunburn and windburn treatment – this is especially useful now that summer is here. Sesame oil is great for treating minor irritations and inflammations on the skin like sunburn and windburn. Just rub a little bit of oil on the affected areas to soothe and treat it.

  • Dry hair treatment – if you’re always on the lookout for natural ways to treat dry hair, I’m pretty sure you’ve already come across some DIY home treatments that use coconut oil, jojoba oil and many more but did you know that you can also use sesame oil for this? Rub sesame oil between your palms and massage onto hair, repeat until you’ve covered everything, leave for 20 to 30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. You’ll notice that your hair will be softer and silkier after this treatment.
