What To Wear At A Garden Party | Aelida

During the warmer seasons of spring and summer, particularly the latter, garden parties are in full bloom. You might be throwing one or attending one. A garden party is typically a classy outdoor party with flowers as scents and decorations, healthy food in the menu, a grassy ground as the floor underfoot and a group of equally classy people–or at least, for the occasion, dressed classy.

The garden party you’re in may or may not have a theme or dress code but there are some things that is just ever present or should not be worn at any kind of garden party. That’s where I’ll be helping you, ladies, out. There are things you need to remember when choosing for your outfit. Here are what you want to wear at a garden party.

  • Sundress – Sundresses are one of the most common garments to wear at a garden party. They are comfortable, lightweight and very much perfect for summer during which most garden parties are usually held. I recommend bright colors or those in lighter shades.

  • Floral pants – Floral prints in general are another go-to print for garden parties. Particularly, those parties that are semi-formal or casual events. Floral printed pants add more casualness to your outfit without loosing the elegance. A dressy white blouse is an ideal garment to match it with.

  • Lace skirts and dresses – Lace practically embodies femininity and class. Most especially when it is worn on or with a long sleeved top. There is an added elegance to the outfit and utter feminine classiness. Accessorize your outfit with gold or silver jewelries, whichever one will suit you better.

  • Bright colored items – With garden parties usually occurring during the day, bright colored garments will have more appeal than darker ones. You also have to consider the setting and place which is in a garden. Bright colors will match up to the abundance of greenness in the party and will harmonize well with the splash of colors that flowers will offer.

  • Tailored culottes – Culottes are the neater version of Bermuda shorts and capri pants. For this, you want to wear culottes that flares out near the edge. Then you pair that with a fitting sleeveless tank top. Choose something dressy.

  • Dressy palazzo pants – Palazzo pants are all over the streets especially during summer but remember that the kind of palazzo pants one usually wears during summer are those with tribal prints and made of cottony material. For a garden party, go for micro prints if you’re opting cotton palazzo pants or you could also choose the dressier silky ones.

  • Classic dresses – Dresses with classic and simple silhouettes are also great for garden parties. Find a dress with neat and well-tailored lines and gives off a polished look.

  • Fascinator – Garden parties are quite common in England. So if you want to channel your inner British, follow Kate Middleton’s footsteps in wearing simple yet chic dresses and glam them up with an elegant fascinator. Just remember not to get overboard with an overwhelming design. Stick with fascinators that are simple yet has statement.
