Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Sultry Review, Swatch

Hello Beautiful People!

Revlon is at it again with a new collection of twist up lipsticks. The ColorBurst Matte Balms seem to be half of a new collection consisting of matte and shiny shades in the same packaging as the Balm Stains that were released a few years ago. The shade I have here is Sultry, which is a warm, soft pink with a slightly brown tone to it that works perfectly as a nude pink for my skin tone.

The product is in the form of a chubby pencil that twists up from the bottom. Application is really easy and the lipstick glides across the skin effortlessly with great pigmentation. I wouldn’t say it is a true matte because even though it is not glossy, there is still a slight satin feel to the lips after the product is applied. I think its a great starter for those who feel matte lipsticks are too drying.

The staying power of this Matte Balm is where the product fell short for me. It is not in any way marketed as a long-wear lipstick or as a stain like its predecessor, but I suppose I am just used to the longevity of other matte lip products.

After about 2 or 3 hours, it kinda felt like there was nothing on my lips and the color was barely visible. I guess thats the difference between a matte lipstick and a Matte Balm.

Scent is not that important to me, for the sake of completeness, there is a slight peppermint scent and feel to these balms. It is not overwhelming, but I thought I would mention it if that’s something you care about.

Overall, I think this is a cool idea. I am a big fan of the color and a balm-like feel of the product on my lips but the lasting power was pretty ‘meh’ for me.

I give this Revlon Colorstay Matte Balm 3.5/5
