Today’s post is about Rimmel’s fairly new Show Off Lip Lacquer. I picked up the shade Apocoliptic recently and was quite impressed. This line is basically lipstick in lip gloss form like a lip creme. It applies opaquely with a vibrant shine.
If you’re in the UK, I think this goes by the name ApocoLips and was released months ago. For some reason, the US got a different name and release date. Oh well ….. I digress.
The applicator is of the doe foot variety but it has a little pocket that collects just enough product to completely coat the lips. This is really handy because it limits pumping the wand back in the bottle too frequently. (You know what a germaphobe I am). I also like the slanted edges that help define the perimeter of the lips.
The shade Apocoliptic is a bright pink with a reddish tone. I would describe it as a fiery Saharan sunset. (Why don’t they let me take over naming these products?)
Upon application, the product is creamy, opaque and super glossy. After about 4 hours, I noticed my lips felt a little dry but when I looked in the mirror, the color was still there even after about 7 hours! Props for that! I still applied a little more on to my lips to soothe the minor dryness I had but the lasting power of the actual pigment was great!
Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquers are sold in drugstores for around $5 and there are about 14 shades available.
Overall, I am relatively impressed by this product. I really didn’t expect it to last as long as it did and I just love this particular shade. I’m more of a lipstick girl but would definitely recommend this and plan to purchase more colors.
I give these Show Off Lip Lacquers a 4 out of 5.
