Black and white Inverted Half Moon Manicure Tutorial
|Hola Beauties!
As you know, I’m still bored of the one-polish look so I have been experimenting with some multi-tone techniques. Today, I have for you what I would call an Inverted Half Moon Manicure. Its much like the half-moon technique I shared with you here, but the curve is in the other direction, so it looks almost like a smile.
I think this method is easier than the traditional half-moon because you just follow the line of your cuticle with the top polish and don’t need any stickers or guides (unless of course, you do?).
To accomplish this look, choose 2 contrasting nail polishes. I picked Midnight Affair by Revlon (the dark blue) and Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen.
After applying base coat, paint the entire nail in the color you want your moon to be.
Then, paint the nail in the contrasting color but leave out the section above your cuticle. You can make this as thick or as thin as you want.
Lastly, apply your top coat and you’re done!
Top Tip: When painting the main color, create one stroke in the center of the nail with the brush and then swipe it along your new cuticle to create a crisp line and avoid streaking. If you choose to do a second coat with that color, you can apply vertically if you wish.
The colors I used for this look are Midnight Affair by Revlon ($4.99) and Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color ($2.79)
