Bananas are considered to be one of the super fruits. They can do so much for you. if you’re planning to lose weight, you can cut down on candies, chocolate and other fatty and cholesterol loaded desserts and take a banana instead. You can also add it to your smoothie for an extra kick of potassium. Bananas are super easy to mix in and incorporate into your daily diet but did you know that aside from being a healthy snack, bananas can also be used for beauty purposes? Here are some DIY beauty treats you can enjoy using a banana:

  • Facial masks – because of the pasty consistency a banana has when it is mashed, it makes a great ingredient for a facial mask. You can mix a banana with a couple of different things to address various skin issues. Some of the most popular banana combinations used for facial masks are banana and oatmeal, banana and honey, banana and yogurt and even banana and milk. Whether you have dry, oily, normal or combination skin, you’re sure to find a homemade facial mask recipe using a banana to help with your skin type.

  • Dry feet remedy – if you have dry cracked heelsor dry feet in general, you have two options: spend money on those commercial feet gel treatments or use a banana to treat your dry feet. Personally, I’d choose the latter because it’s super easy to do anyway plus you don’t need to spend a dime to do it. just take the pulp of a ripe banana and apply it on to dry skin. Leave it for 10 minutes and rinse your feet with warm water to reveal softer skin on your feet.

  • Hair mask – aside from being a great ingredient for facial masks, bananas also make a wonderful ingredients for hair masks. Hair masks are beauty treats you can give your hair when they’re starting to get dry, damaged and frizzy or when you’re starting to get dandruff. The hair masks can help repair your hair and bring it back to life. To make a banana hair mask mixture, mix 2 to 3 ripe mashed bananas with 2 to 3 tbsp. of honey. Apply to wet hair and massage to work your way into every strand as well as your roots and scalp. Leave it on your hair for half an hour while wrapped in a shower cap then rinse.

  • Acne, blemish and pimple treatment – acne and blemishes are some of the things that a lot of us deal with on a regular basis. If you suffer from blemishes and acne, eat a banana and then take the peel and rub the inside of the peel on to the affected areas until the inside of the peel turns brown. Do this at least three times a day and you will see your blemishes and acne banish in as quick as 4 days. Doing the same can also help with the redness and itchiness from an insect or a mosquito bite.
