Because we’re now officially in spring time, the warmer temps call for lighter, more breathable clothes and that’s exactly what crop tops are all about. Surfacing from the summer of last year, crop tops somehow found a way to stay in every woman’s closet despite the freezing cold temps. This spring, the crop top fashion trend has only grown bigger with more women sporting it. In case you want to jump in on the bandwagon (especially with Coachella coming up!), here are some tips on how to rock the crop top fashion trend for spring.

• Crop top and skater skirt – skater skirts are another huge trend to watch out for this spring. Pair up your crop top with a skate skirt and get a nice street style spring look. You can polish it up a little and finish off the outfit with a pair of heels or you can go for a more casual look by wearing sneakers with it. Pick off duty sneakers instead of trainers, though. You’ll want to avoid the latter with this kind of outfit combo because it would only result in a fashion faux pas. Sneaker wedges are fine too but, again, off duty sneakers like Keds work best for this combo.

• Matching crop top and skirt – if you’re a bit of a crafty DIY-er and you want a unique way to rock the crop top fashion trend this spring, why not make your own matching crop top and skirt? This DIY project requires sewing, of course, so get your sewing kit ready. While an outfit of a plain matching crop top and skirt is fine, you can always take it up a notch and get more fashion forward by using fabric with print. A word of caution, though, if you plan on doing the latter: try to limit the “matchiness” of your whole look to your clothes only; going overboard may have you ending up in a tacky situation.

• Crop top and boyfriend jeans – here’s another cute way to get in on the crop top fashion trend: wear your crop top with boyfriend jeans. It’s the ultimate street style spring look! This look also lets you channel some of that tomboy-ish vibe without making you look too masculine. The combination of a flirty crop top with boyish boyfriend jeans create the perfect balance and harmony in your look. if you want this look to lean more on the tomboy side, you can wear sneakers or boots with it but if you want it to be more on the feminine side, you can wear heels to give it a bit of a feminine flare.

• Crop top and a pencil skirt – while a crop top is in no way an office-friendly piece of clothing item, you can still make it look sleek and posh. Choose a sleeved crop top – whether it’s a full on long-sleeved one or one that has a ¾ sleeve on it and pair it with a fierce pencil skirt. This look is sure to give you a sense of ‘girl power’ without necessarily having to be too ‘bossy’. You can also make it a bit sexier by going with an off-the-shoulder crop top or with a sleeveless one, to make it more springtime appropriate. Complete your outfit with a pair of killer shoes and don’t forget to accent your look with accessories, too!
