From most fashion blogs and magazines we learn that in order for us to look stylish, we must be knowledgeable of the different color combinations that work for us. Some teach us to do the color blocking technique, others help us understand how to create an outfit with beautiful color contrasts and some gives us ideas on how to achieve a cohesive-looking outfit using a certain color palette. While all of these are indeed very stylish and fashionable, they can be a lot of hard work. You’ll have to find out what colors work for you first then figure out what other colors work with that color. if you want to skip all these and pull off a stylish and chic outfit, why not go monochromatic?

A monochromatic outfit is basically those that make use of only one color for an overall look. You may add in other colors through your accessories but if you want this trend in its purest form, going one color from head to toe is the best way to go. Here are some monochromatic outfit ideas that you can use:

  • Navy blue to replace black – we all know that once the temperature starts to drop and the season changes from spring to fall, darker colors and hues begin to take over our closets as well. Black has been the classic go to color for a lot of women during the colder seasons but if you want something that’s not so common, you can ditch black and switch to navy blue instead. It’s a very elegant color that will work with most skin tones.

  • Red with some nudes – red is a very bright and bold color that not everyone will be confident to wear but to those who are very fashion forward and to those who like to make a statement, creating a red monochromatic outfit is a very sophisticated move. If you think that an all-red outfit is too much for your, or the people around you, to handle, tame it down with nudes. Nude accessories are very subtle and do not take away from the fierceness and festivity of the color red.

  • Winter whites – looking for a fresh new way to make a statement this winter? Why not go for winter whites. For the past years, all white outfits were stashed away immediately after Labor Day and were not busted out until the next one. Today though, going all white for winter is one of the hottest trends. It’s a refreshing break from all the dark colors we are so used to wearing for the season.

  • Going gray – if you want something chic this winter but don’t want to don on either black or white, maybe you should go for the one in between – gray. Gray is a very nice color, especially when worn from head to foot. It may look dull but all you really have to do to pull off a monochromatic gray outfit is to wear it with bright and gorgeous makeup and you’ll be all set to go!
