Every year, the Pantone Color Institute, responsible of helping companies in the respective color-related aspects of their brands and products, lets out a new Color of the Year that will serve as a symbolic color representation of that year.
For 2016, Pantone Color Institute did something for the first time: they chose two Colors of the Year. Rose Quartz and Serenity. The two is said to be a symbolization of the color of a snapshot, something that has created a permanent place in our culture. A medium of expression and attitude.
Here are some amazing spring outfit ideas for this year’s Pantone Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Rose Quartz is described by Pantone as “a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure”. It is a very romantic color, indeed. And the best thing about this shade of pink is how it is unquestionably a great shade that’s wearable for both youths and adults. Also, for this spring, a pastel shade as Rose Quartz is simply a great fluttery yet firm color to add to your spring wardrobe.
Rose Quartz is very versatile. As seen in the above two pictures, it blends well with classic ladylike outfits due to its soft and cotton candy-like hue. But as you will see below, the color, Rose Quartz, can also either add a little femininity to an edgy outfit or blend well when you add an ounce of edginess to a girly outfit. The color is very compatible with both dark neutral shades such as black and gray as well with light neutral shades like white and nude and fellow pastel colors. And for the brunette ladies out there, Rose Quartz emphasizes the beauty of your brown mane.
Serenity, on the other hand, is described by the Pantone Color Institute as a “weightless and airy” color “like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.” Like Rose Quartz, Serenity is also a pastel color except that it is slightly darker in shade. There is a great beauty about this color in such a way that it is gender flexible–you can say that it is wearable for men and women alike. And, being a pastel color, Serenity is also a perfect color to incorporate to your spring wardrobe just like Rose Quartz.
The great deal about Serenity is that you can go all out with the color, creating an all-Serenity, monochromatic outfit or merely a dab of the color into your attire through accessories like scarves or bags. The color Serenity is also wonderful for either a posh yet very feminine work outfit or just a slightly girly and very much spring-y casual everyday look.
ROSE QUARTZ AND SERENITY
Another thing that these two color symbolizes and the reason why the Pantone Color Institute chose Rose Quartz and Serenity as the two Colors of the Year is the fact that their wonderful blend together is a symbolic representation of the gradually blurring lines between “gender-fying” colors. Pink is not limited to women and blue is not limited to men anymore. And this is, beyond anything, a wonderful move for Pantone Color Institute especially when they are well associated with industries who preaches the freedom of expression in numerous forms and ways.
