Cool and Trendy Wedge Sneakers | Aelida

Sneakers have always been a sacrifice: they’re cool and comfortable, but you lose all those glorious inches you get from your killer heels. Yet you can try every gel insert under the sun, but nothing will ever be quite as comfortable as your favorite kicks.

Leave it to queen of casual cool, Isabel Marant, to re-invent the sneaker. Her Willow wedge high-tops blend the laid-back vibe of Velcro tennies with major height—they sold out instantly after she showed them for spring.

Luckily they’re back in stock, and they’ve spawned a whole slew of amped-up wedge sneakers, so you’re guaranteed to experience the best of both worlds with season.

We’ll admit, we weren’t crazy about the wedge sneaker at first. We were wondering what could we wear them with? And are they even comfortable?, but now that we know the answers. We’re thrilled that the trend isn’t going away.

This fall, there’s a ton more styles out there than just the $700 Isabel Marant kicks that were flying off shelves last year. Now Steve Madden, Jeffrey Campbell, Rebecca Taylor and more are making versions of this favorite off-duty model look.

They even come in studded, leopard and more, for as low as $80–we know what we’ll be wearing with our jeans and t-shirts come cooler weather.

They look like a sneakers, but are constructed like wedges. They’ve been around for years, but only recently have stores been pumping them out in every size and color. For the most part, I believe that a fashion shoe has the right to be on trend.

Those days of having to decide between rocking sneakers for comfort, or heels for height are long gone. Thanks to these hidden wedge sneakers, you can now rock comfy sneakers and still add a couple inches to your stature.

Wedge sneakers can be an intimidating look to pull off, but just about anyone can do it with a little effort. In principle, your bottoms and tops should create a snug, fitted appearance to balance out the bulk of the sneakers.

You can further balance your ensemble out with smart accessory use. Wedge sneakers are large and a little clunky, but they can still look stylish as long as the rest of the leg looks slender and long.

To that end, when wearing jeans, you should opt for a sleek pair of skinny jeans that hug your leg over classic styles like straight-leg or boot-cut. Create an even narrower line by tucking the jeans into the sneakers.
