Tips on What to Wear to a Valentine’s Day Date | Aelida

If you’ve got plans for later tonight with your man, you’re probably already looking for an outfit to wear. Quite honestly, you can wear whatever you want for your Valentine’s Day date but if you want to look extra cute and snazzy for your man, that’s great too. Depending on where you beau is taking you tonight, there are lots of different looks that you can pull off. Here are some of our tips on what to wear to a Valentine’s Day date, in case you need some help.

  • Day to night look – since this year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday, that means you’ll probably be coming straight from the office to your dinner date even if your guy is picking you up. Now, if this is the situation you will be in later, you have to options: dress up in your regular work clothes, bring date clothes to work and change in the restroom before you head out OR wear something in the office that can easily take you from day to night without the hassle. The latter, to me, seems like the best way to go because then, you would only have to worry about your makeup which is less stressful. Don on something that’s girly and romantic like a silk top and a pencil skirt or a lace dress and a cute blazer then finish off with heels. Keep the colors neutral and save the reds and pinks for your accessories and your makeup.

  • Formal – on the other hand, if you have enough time to get back home and get yourself ready for a dressier and more formal dinner date, say at a fancy restaurant, be sure to wear something that wouldn’t show too much skin. Remember that you can look sexy without having to show off lots of skin. Classy dresses that hug your curves in all the right ways are your best bet. In case you can’t decide on what to wear, take the Valentine’s Day version of a the little black dress: a little red dress. it’s simple and chic and you can never go wrong with it. Since red is such a strong color, tone your accessories down a bit so you don’t end up going overboard.

  • Casual – if you and your man’s idea of a nice Valentine’s Day date is going to the theaters to watch a movie followed by a really casual dinner date at the hip burger joint down the street (don’t feel bad, we love that stuff too), just slip into something comfortable and bring along something that would keep you warm like a sweater or a jacket. Do your hair into pretty and romantic waves or curls and put on a soft and girly makeup look to add a Valentine-y feel.

  • Ready for any surprise – in case your boyfriend insists on keeping details about your Valentine’s Day date a surprise, wear something versatile. You can create an understated look and pair it with fabulous accessories, just to make sure you are neither underdressed nor overdressed.
